Her mother died when she was young and her sister Laura raised her until
her father remarried. Then her baby half - sister Eva was born the joy of
her youth.
She married William Paul Litten in 1932, also a resident of Ellettsville.
They two boys, Thomas and Billy Lee, then moved to the big city of
Chicago. Where they lived until the late 1940's when they moved to Los
Angeles. Thomas died at the age of 18.
After the marriage and the birth of their 1st grandchild, Catherine, they
moved to Mammoth Lakes where Marty became postmistress. Paul and Marty
were owners of a restraunt in town, called the Pelican. Both Martha and
Paul were avid fishermen and hunters and often supplied their table with
fresh game. They resided in Mammoth until they felt it had become over
populated with tourists at which time they then moved back to LA for a
short time, to be with their grandchildren.
They then to Carson City, Nevada and went into land development. While in
Carson City, Marty began to go back to her farming roots and began
cultivating vegetables and fruit, canning them and making jellies. They

After the children went back to their natural mother, Marty kept in close
contact with them over the years, following their progress and cheering
them on. |
